Park Towers has been featured twice in the Open Gardens program.
It last swung open its gates to the public on the first weekend of February, 2011, giving the gardeners, many of whom are Russian, a chance to show off their diverse plots. In traditional style, the garden hosted cultural performances, music, seed saving workshops and refreshments.
It is home to many plants that are otherwise difficult or expensive to acquire, a good chance for other locals to see how gardening can really expand your repertoire of fresh foods and culinary possibilities.
In the 2014 Department of Human Services Victoria in Bloom competition, the Park Towers Community Garden was the winning entrant in the Best Edible Garden category.
