The garden has been established since May 2011. It was designed and is gardened using Permaculture principles and practices. The garden is the host to the ‘Food4LYF’ gardening and cooking program with Bellingen High School students and a weekly ‘Dig n Dine’ gathering every Thursday. The ‘Food4LYF’ program is offered to students as an alternative to sport and the students play a special role in keeping the garden flourishing.
‘Dig n Dine’ is a weekly social gathering in the garden, where the community can get involved in the garden and enjoy a communal meal ‘ with others. Search for the Dig ‘n’ Dine Facebook group to find out more.
There is a lock-up shed with tools and equipment, a pizza oven and an outdoor kitchen. The garden is open to the whole community with access to non-high-school-students after school hours and on weekends.
Community groups run workshops on different garden-related topics within the gardens – see the shed wall for current workshops and other events.
See you at the garden soon!
