City farmers grow their own fertiliser
At Northey Street City Farm, the gardeners grow their own fertiliser in the form of nitrogen-producing shrubs. The system is called 'slash and mulch' and it could be adopted in other community gardens where there is enough space and a climate warm enough to encourage rapid regrowth.
