The following community gardens and sustainability education centres/groups operate fresh food, local and/or organic food farmers' markets...

MELBOURNE

CERES Organic Market

Location: Corner, Stewart and Roberts Streets, East Brunswick.

Frequency: Wednesdays & Saturdays 9am - 1pm.

Our farm team harvest our fresh produce the day before the market from our certified organic garden on site and on our one-hectare market garden by the Merri Creek (near Harding Street, Coburg).

You will also find fresh food from backyards around Brunswick and from the best Victorian organic growers. At CERES Organic Market you are supporting sustainable, local agriculture and can see exactly what's in season.

The distance benween the farms and our market are marked on most of the signs.

Collingwood Children's Farm

Location: St Heliers Street, Abbotsford (Melway 44 G5).

Frequency: Second Saturday of the month 8am - 1pm.

Abbotsford Convent

Collingwood and Abbotsford Convent farmers markets provide: fresh and organic seasonal vegetables, seedlings, flowers, herbs, juices, breads, olive oil, rare breed and free range meats, chooks & eggs, fresh & smoked fish, home made condiments, cheeses.

The markets are plastic bag-free - BYO baskets and bags.

Veg Out Community Garden Farmers' Market

Location: Peanut Farm Reserve, Chaucer Street, St Kilda (behind Veg Out Community Garden).

Frequency: First Saturday of month 8.30am - 1pm.

Healsville Organic Farmers Market

A joint venture of Yarra Velley Permaculture Group & Yarra Valley Tourist Railway Society.

Location: Tourist railway precinct, Healsville

Frequency: Saturdays 8am - 1pm.

Northey Street City Farm Organic Growers Market

Location: Northey Street City Farm, Northey Street, Windsor.

Frequency: Weekly on Sundays - 6:30am - 10:30 am.

Lots of organically certified produce - fruit, herbs, vegetables, breads and more. Breakfast options (great chai & cakes) as well as other stalls.

Food available from City Farm cafe, seeds and seedlings from City Farm's Edible Landscapes Nursery.

Buy your fresh foods, enjoy breakfast at the City Farm Cafe and take a relaxing stroll around the city farm to see growing vegetables, herbs, fruit, bush foods and native plants - not to forget a visit to the chooks for the children.
