Sustainability Ambassador, aka Waste-Not The Wizard

A magical life.

Born in Adelaide in1952, I lived in the SE of SA at Lucindale on our farm ‘Crower’ until we drove across the dusty Nullarbor in 1957 in an old Holden.

Mum and Dad bought ‘Kuringai’ in SW WA at Boyup Brook where I went to school until 1964.

I attended Scotch College from 1965 till 1969 and we moved to Perth in 1967. I didd a Commerce degree at UWA in mid 70s and worked in management for Esso Australia before moving to a 287 acre farm at Nannup.

Our Chestnut orchard became one of the 1st Grade A registered Biodynamic farms in WA.

Moved to 205 acres in Rosa Glen : half cleared, half bush, bordering forest. Very lucky to live in the (magic) bush much of my life.

Set up ‘Environmentally Safe Shop’ and did green (magic) campaigns locally, state and Oz wide, globally : mining, development, forestry, etc & Rio Earth Summit.

I also did rural Real Estate in nearby Margaret River.

In 98 we divorced, and I bought a house in town and learnt to use my new (magic) filming and editing equipment - mainly bands and in environmental campaigns.

Yearning for more space I sold the house and went travelling, filming, observing, learning and running amok across (magic) Oz - much of it with First Nations' peep in southern and central Oz (2 years in Alice).

Arriving back in Perth broke, I ended up at Perth City Farm doing a community work order for minor infringements! The beginning of my (magic) community garden journey as Secretary, President and Sustainability Ambassador.

Life in the city was like being in heaven - one of the most wasteful societies ever to exist on (magic) earth, and the pubs are closer together!

I established Sustainable Urban Nutrition (SUN) and was reborn as Wastenot the Wizard.

Through a relationship with (magical) Lois Olney, I was privileged to be accepted into the ancient (more magic) lore and culture of the Western Pilbara region of WA.

I describe myself as : a gardener, an environmental designer, a film maker, a bush poet & yarn spinner, a carer, an alcoholarian, a Macaholic,a wordsmith and an ordinary bloke.

Care for country and all life on it.
